May 30, 2015 - Cedar Meadows Fly-in

Today I was flying over to the northern Shenandoah Valley for the 2nd annual Cedar Meadows RV Fly-in.  I stopped at Carroll County to fuel up.  This Direct TV blimp was operating at the southern end of the runway.

The plan was to meet up with some other RV drivers at Winchester Airport (KOKV).

We socialized for awhile there and then headed for nearby Cedar Meadows.  I flew over in formation with Condor and Jolly.

Safe on deck at Cedar Meadows.

Glen S. taxiis out in "The Devestator".

Chef and Tulip were on hand in "Look'n Good" with Rubber Chicken Launching Device (Dual).  Riggo taxiis in flying another blue nose RV-8.

It was a little warm in the sun so people stayed in the hangar shade.  Plus that was where the food and drinks were.  Condor's RV-6 in the background.

Jolly's RV-7 looking sharp as always.

My bird, plus unknown RV-4, then Mike B.'s RV-7.

There isn't a lot of ramp area at this private grass strip so the RVs are kind of packed in.

A close-up of Mike B.'s 7.

A helo popped out of nowhere.

Another unknown RV-4.

Chef and Tulip  -- not sure which one was flying -- roll in hot for a chicken launch.

Chicken away!

RV pilots milling about smartly.

Jim T. was the host.   This RV-4 was his old ride.

But now Jim T. has a new ride.

Jim's son flies this nice Decathelon, parked out back.

Vlad, arriving!

Jim T. giving Vlad taxi instructions.  Or maybe a gesture of some sort?

Soon after Vlad arrived, all the other RVs departed.  Sorry about that, Vlad.  Here is an overhead shot of Cedar Meadows.

I cruised to the east and flew down the Shenandoah River for awhile.

Then I headed home via my normal route.  To Frederick, then to Clearview.   This route crosses one of the arrival corridors for the big jets flying into Dulles Airport.  So I'm always looking to the north when I'm transiting through.  This big Qatar Airlines jet cruised overhead.

Looking down at Frederick Airport.

I passed by that Direct TV blimp just east of Clearview.

I flew around Miller's Island a little bit.

Summer weather brings out the party boats!
